Synth Workshop · Billing
Local stays free. Cloud work is explicit.
Workshop is not an account tax on local research. You pay Synth when you use Synth-backed compute. You pay other providers when you use their APIs. Missing usage is shown as unavailable, never as zero.
Free and local
- Local models, local data, local environments, and local execution do not require a Synth account.
- ChatGPT login and direct provider APIs are billed by those providers, not as Synth Workshop usage.
- The Free plan includes a permanent $10 Workshop allowance for account-backed work you choose to run.
What an account enables
- Device pairing, org-backed usage, and the current Workshop Starter promotion.
- Cloud models, hosted eval, optimization, SFT, and CUA capacity that a local Mac cannot supply alone.
- Shared usage views, budgets, and receipts across the signed-in account.
Paid-work boundaries
- Paid eval, GEPA, SFT, cloud-model, and CUA activity draws from included allowance first, then flex credits.
- External-provider costs (ChatGPT, OpenAI, Anthropic, and similar) are attributed to those providers. They are not Synth usage.
- Budgets and approvals are set in the signed-in account. The macOS app never collects card details.
Upgrade from the macOS app opens this site's usage page. Card details stay in the hosted checkout. See also onboarding and troubleshooting.
