Synth Workshop · Troubleshooting
Install, launch, upgrade, uninstall.
When something fails, keep the version, macOS version, and app data directory. Support cannot reconstruct a missing diagnostics directory.
Install
- Download only from usesynth.ai/download.
- Compare the ZIP SHA-256 with the value on that page before opening it.
- Move the app to Applications if you want a stable location.
First launch
- The published v0.5 build is ad-hoc signed and not Apple-notarized.
- After extracting it, Control-click the app, choose Open, then confirm Open.
- Grant folder access only to workspaces you intend Workshop to use.
Upgrade
- Workshop checks the official stable manifest, then sends you back to /download.
- Replace the previous app bundle. Keep the app data directory unless support asks otherwise.
- Confirm About shows the catalogued version after relaunch.
Uninstall
- Delete the app bundle from Applications.
- Optional: remove the app data directory only after you no longer need traces, visuals, or diagnostics.
- Account-backed usage remains on the Synth account until you close the org.
Providers
- ChatGPT login, local models, direct API credentials, and Synth API are independent. A failure in one must not be reported as a failure in all.
- Provider credentials stay in the native app. This website never logs them.
- If a provider is unavailable, Workshop should say unavailable—not invent a zero.
